Night shift Support Worker: Leaving Care 16-18-year-old Supported Housing Worker

Jigsaw Recovery Project CIC (JRP) is a housing provider operating across the North east of England. We believe that everyone should have a home and, where needed, support to be independent. We endeavour to provide bespoke car packages for bespoke care needs, to the people we serve on a daily basis. Our aim is to provide affordable, high quality housing and support for people in housing need.
Within our supported accommodation services, we work with young people and adults experiencing Multiple needs of disadvantage (Homelessness, Substance Misuse, Offending behaviour and Mental health).
We are currently looking for a team of Young Persons housing support workers (37.5 hours per week) to provide high quality support to care leavers aged 16-18 years in our new supported accommodation service in Gateshead, aimed at providing valuable support to enable young care leavers to become “tenancy ready” on their journey to independence. Successful candidates will work as part of a highly skilled and motivated team, working within a shift rota system covering evenings and weekends when needed.
Our ideal candidates will be passionate about working with young people, have experience of working with young care leavers and have a solid understanding of engaging, supporting and motivating young people. They will have experience of some of the challenges and risks young people face which could impact on their personal development, life skills and life chances. As part of supporting independence our skilled support team will also assist young people to achieve life skills, find opportunities for engaging in employment, education and training.
Working in partnership with other agencies and community groups, you will help young people settle into stable accommodation, encourage them to access services and improve their quality of life. We treat every person as an individual and support them in line with their pathway plan to help them achieve positive outcomes.

Our ideal candidates will have:
A commitment to and understanding of supporting young people
Experience of working with young people with multiple needs
Strong work ethic
NVQ 3 caring for children & young people or NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your workload accordingly
Driving licence and car user
Flexible with your working hours to meet the needs of customers where appropriate
DBS is required. (supplied by JRP)

Job Type: Full-time 2-year contract, with potential further 2-year extension.
Salary: £17,000.00 to £19,000.00 /year
Experience: Supported Housing Environment 1-year minimum
Location: Newcastle & Gateshead (North East, England)
